On August 1st 1971, George Harrison put on one of the most memorable shows in rock history. It was the first large scale rock and roll benefit ever and included rock legends Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Leon Russell, Badfinger, Billy Preston + more. On this night the music from that concert will be revisited and played with expert precision.

Wonderous Stories will celebrate the 42nd anniversary of George Harrison's "Concert for Bangladesh" with an all-star big band performance of the album in it's entirety. Wonderous Stories is a band well known for re-creating major shows and entire classic albums. Since 2007 Wonderous Stories and friends have done a tribute to George Harrison 4 times. This year makes 5 and every year special guests come to play their hits or to play the hit songs that they were a part of. That is in addition to almost all the songs played at the original show. This years lineup includes "The Soul Survivors " whose monster hit 'Expressway to your heart' actually knocked the Beatles hit "Hello Goodbye" out of the #1 spot in late 1967. The great soulful original singers will play the hit and a few more great tunes. Saxist Ron Aprea who played on John Lennons "Walls and Bridges" album will be there to play some from that album and to play along with the horn section. The cast also includes guys who play or have played in Tower of Power, The Turtles, Dire Straits, Rolling Stones, Mick Taylor, Dion, J Geils, The Hooters and so much more.

Plans are already in the works to make this one the most memorable of them all with very special guests to be announced and added to the show as we get closer. Sit back and enjoy the massive Wall of Sound as we present the "Concert for Bangladesh" plus extra songs performed by our guests who made them famous!!! Moneys from this show will be donated to the cancer society in the memory of George Harrison who died of cancer in 2002.

George Harrison (néle 25 février 1943 à Liverpool et mort le 29 novembre 2001 à Los Angeles) est un musicien, auteur-compositeur, chanteur etproducteur de cinéma britannique, guitariste et le plus jeune Beatle. 

Fils d'une famille de la classe moyenne de Liverpool, il est un ami d'enfance de Paul McCartney, qui le propose, début 1958, à John Lennon, pour qu'il intègre sa formation, The Quarrymen. À trois, ils forment le noyau du groupe qui devient les Beatles en 1960 et, après l'arrivée de Ringo Starret à partir de 1963, un des plus grands phénomènes de l'histoire de la musique populaire du xx^e siècle.

L'influence d'Harrison dans la musique des Beatles va croissant au fil des années. Il est tout d'abord le guitariste solo et un des trois chanteurs d'un groupe qui se distingue très vite pour la qualité de ses harmonies vocales. À partir de 1965, il introduit la spiritualité, la musique et lesinstruments indiens dans l'univers musical des Fab Four. Enfin, il compose quelques-unes de leurs plus belles chansons durant les dernières années, comme While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Something ou Here Comes the Sun. Il est aussi un pionnier de l'utilisation du synthétiseur dans le rock. À mesure que son talent de compositeur s'affirme, sa frustration de rester dans l'ombre du tandem Lennon/McCartney grandit. Elle participe aux dissensions qui conduisent à la séparation des Beatles en 1970.

Harrison connaît une belle réussite artistique et commerciale au début de sa carrière solo, avec son triple album All Things Must Pass et sa chanson My Sweet Lord. Il organise en 1971 un concert pour le Bangladesh, le premier concert de bienfaisance de l'histoire du rock. Il se lance également dans le cinéma, en fondant la société de production HandMade Films, qui produit notamment le film des Monty Python La Vie de Brian, dans lequel il fait une brève apparition. Il connaît ensuite des hauts et des bas dans sa carrière solo, avant de créer en 1988 le supergroupeTraveling Wilburys, avec Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne et Bob Dylan, formation qui produit deux albums.

Tout d'abord marié à Pattie Boyd de 1966 à 1977, il épouse Olivia Trinidad Arias en 1978, avec qui il a un fils, Dhani. Ses apparitions se font rares au cours des années 1990, durant lesquelles il participe au projet Anthology des Beatles et travaille épisodiquement à un hypothétique album, finalement publié après sa mort, Brainwashed. Un cancer du poumon lui est diagnostiqué en 1997. Il y succombe le 29 novembre 2001, déjà fragilisé par une tentative d'assassinat dont il a été victime en 1999. Plus de dix ans après sa mort, il est encore considéré par le public comme l'un des grands artistes de son époque.

''Concert for George'' fue un memorial organizado en el Royal Albert Hall de Londres el 29 de noviembre de 2002 dedicado a George Harrison en el primer aniversario de su muerte. 

El evento fue organizado por su viuda, Olivia, y su hijo Dhani Harrison, mientras que la dirección musical recayó en manos de Eric Clapton, con todos los beneficios destinados a la fundación The Material World Foundation que Harrison fundó en 1973.

They were the greatest and most influential act of the rock era and introduced more innovations into popular music than any other rock band of the 20th century. Some said it couldn’t really be happening, that it was just publicity. The others said, they couldn’t last more than a month or two, that nobody could hang on to that kind of fame. The Beatles, of course, proved them wrong.

The “Fab Four” from Liverpool, England energized the lives of virtually all who heard them. Their arrival triggered the musical revolution of the Sixties, introducing a modern sound and viewpoint that parted ways with the world of the previous decade. They helped confer self-identity upon a youthful, music-based culture that flexed its muscle in myriad ways – not just as music consumers but also as a force for political expression, social commentary and contemporary lifestyles. 

They grabbed a hold of the international mass consciousness in 1964 and never let go for the next six years, always staying ahead of the pack in terms of creativity but never losing their ability to communicate their  increasingly sophisticated ideas to a mass audience. They synthesized all that was good about early rock & roll, and changed it into something original and even more exciting. They established the prototype for the self-contained rock group that wrote and performed its own material.

Wherever they went, they brought Beatlemania with them. They couldn’t help it; it was a form of real love. George would say many years later that the world used them as an excuse to go mad and then blamed it on the Beatles, but there is a parallel theory, that it was time for the world to go that sort of mad.

Of the four members of the world’s most famous band, the Beatles guitarist, George Harrison made the least effort at being a public figure, but despite this fact, the quiet Beatle earned a reputation as one of the most talented and influential individuals born to rock & roll.

George showed his independent nature at an early age, defying his school’s age-old dress code by wearing jeans and growing long hair. George was 12 or 13, when he heard Elvis Presley’s “Heartbreak Hotel” playing from a nearby house and was hooked, from that point on, the former good student lost interest in school. He sat at the back of the class and tried drawing guitars in his schoolbooks. At age 13 his mother bought him his first guitar.

In 1956, 14 year old Harrison joined the Quarrymen – which included John Lennon and Paul McCartney. When they changed their name to the Beatles in 1960, he was only 17 – the youngest of the Fab Four. (Read more)
