Things you do not need our permission for

Individuals
Articles from The Christian Science Monitor may be photocopied, and articles from csmonitor.com may be downloaded and printed on paper, for your own personal, non-commercial use only. We recommend using the handy “printer-friendly” format, which displays the copyright notices and the URL of the article. Otherwise, all copyright and other notices must be maintained. The materials may not be modified, distributed, retransmitted, or included, in whole or in part, in derivative works, except as described on this page. All reprinting, republishing, broadcast, web reposting, or other uses require written permission from The Christian Science Monitor. In some cases, the Monitor must refer you to another rightsholder.

Teachers and students
Teachers and students can make up to 50 photocopies of articles for one-time classroom use, including for student papers, class presentations, science fairs, debate or extemporaneous speaking teams, model United Nations classes or student organizations, or any other legitimate educational use. The Monitor copyright notice and our URL “www.csmonitor.com” must be legible.
For more than 50 copies, to use an article on more than a one-time basis, or to use it in a course pack, please contact the Copyright Clearance Center Academic Permissions Service at (978) 750-8400, fax (978) 750-4470, or via e-mail.
To reuse articles or photos in books, please contact the Monitor's Copyright Administration Department at (617) 450-3744 or via e-mail. In some cases, the Monitor must refer you to another rightsholder.

Non-Profit Organizations
Non-Profit Organizations (schools, churches, neighborhood groups, 501(c)(3) organizations, and the like) can make up to 50 photocopies of articles for one-time distribution, free of charge, at public events and talks, fairs, meetings, etc. The Monitor copyright notice and our URL “www.csmonitor.com” must be legible.
